Know your FoodHaving been brought up on the family farm at Flecknoe we are both strong advocates of good Farming TriviaPigs love to forage and dig and have short stubby legs with large bodies so this is why they are better suited to farms on free draining, light soil areas in East Anglia where there are no big hills to climb and where they will do less damage to the grass. Chickens similarly are messy eaters and love to scratch the grass but being so light arent worried about the hills, so are often farmed in Gloucestershire and Yorkshire. Cattle need rich grassland pastures as you fi nd in the Midlands and Herefordshire in the spring and summer to thrive, but will also need to be housed in doors when it gets too wet and cold. Sheep are the easiest of all, as they thrive in almost any conditions, and are often farmed alongside other animals as they are fantastic eaters, grazing parts of the fi eld that other animals would normally leave to waste.
